Recorded at the Van Gelder studio in September 1965 and subsequently released on Blue Note, these five original tracks see the great alto saxophonist Jackie McLean at the head of a stellar quintet featuring Charles Tolliver or Lee Morgan on trumpet, Larry Willis on piano, Larry Riddle on bass and the marvelous Jack De Johnette on drums. This is highly energetic, hard swinging post-bop jazz at its best.
