Recorded live at The Penthouse in Seattle on August 12 and 19, 1965, Silver in Seattle: Live at the Penthouse captures Horace Silver’s hard-bop quintet in thrilling form. The pianist leads a powerhouse ensemble featuring Woody Shaw on trumpet, Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Teddy Smith on bass, and Roger Humphries on drums. Unearthed from original KING-FM tapes and newly mastered by Matthew Lutthans, this set presents Silver’s signature blend of gospel-infused swing, soulful lyricism, and tight rhythmic drive. The CD edition includes a deluxe booklet with rare photographs by Francis Wolff, Burt Goldblatt, and Jean-Pierre Leloir, plus new liner notes by Bob Blumenthal.
