Formed in Bristol in 1974, Skywhale emerged from the UK’s vibrant live prog scene, performing at legendary venues and festivals like Glastonbury, Stonehenge, and the Ashton Court Festival. Though their run was short-lived, they left behind a single, remarkable document: The World at Mind’s End, recorded in 1977 — a lost gem of melodic yet adventurous instrumental fusion.
Blending the pastoral, Canterbury-influenced stylings of bands like Caravan and Hatfield & The North with the electrifying energy of Weather Report, Skywhale carved out a singular soundscape.
